Technical Advisor

Our New York office has an opening for a Technical Advisor.

The Technical Advisor performs advanced analysis of relevant technologies, scientific literature, patents and other materials for intellectual property matters within the Life Sciences IP group.

In this capacity, the Technical Advisor will:

  • Perform work in an efficient and cost-effective manner so as to permit the Firm to reasonably collect fees for such work; Meet expectations of billable hours;
  • Assist attorneys with legal issues related to patent litigation and pre-suit due diligence investigations, with a focus on the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and chemistry;
  • Conduct technical analysis of relevant publications, patents, and other scientific analysis;
  • Collaborate with attorneys and experts to develop positions related to patent infringement, patent validity issues and to prepare reports;
  • Assist in preparations for depositions of experts and other technical witnesses;
  • Identify key experts in relevant fields, assist in retaining experts;
  • Work beyond scheduled hours as required; and
  • Handle additional related projects as assigned.


  • Advanced degree in Physical/Life Sciences, Engineering or related field (required); PhD (preferred);
  • Post-doctoral or industrial experience (preferred);
  • 5 years’ experience in technical analysis in biological, pharmaceutical or chemistry life sciences;
  • Experience in a professional services or legal environment (preferred);
  • Advanced to Expert knowledge in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and chemistry, or related fields;
  • Advanced proficiency in analysis in the relevant technical areas;
  • Advanced ability to formulate innovative solutions to technical problems; and
  • Advanced proficiency in written communication.
